Manufacturing Technology Institute
Jamestown Campus
The Manufacturing Technology Institute on the Jamestown Campus focuses on the development and provision of training to support advanced manufacturing in the region. MTI houses several of the college’s accredited educational programs such as industrial equipment technology, mechanical technology, machine tool technology, and welding technology, as well as non-credit industry specific customized training programs.
MTI’s mission is to provide services to businesses and individuals in the region in the form of hands-on manufacturing technical training and technology assistance.
MTI’s vision is to be the premier manufacturing skills training provider in the region. MTI works in cooperation with the public and private education system to define and implement a clear pathway of manufacturing technology training from grade school to a graduate degree. MTI builds partnerships with both public and private sectors to support this vision.
Cattaraugus County Campus
The Manufacturing Technology Institute on the Cattaraugus County Campus in Olean provides advanced manufacturing programs and processes and features classrooms, specialized training space for machining and other industrial skills, light duty labs, and a computer aided design lab.
MTI houses degree and certificate programs such as computer aided design & computer numerical control, industrial equipment technology, machine tool technology, welding technology, as well as non-credit industry specific customized training programs.
Workforce Development Programs
Workforce Development at Jamestown Community College bridges the needs of employers, the community, and individuals by providing learning opportunities to succeed personally and professionally. With locations in Jamestown, Dunkirk and Olean, we offer a broad spectrum of courses, programs and services across multiple industry sectors. Courses and programs are offered year-round at times convenient for adults. Numerous online offerings are also available.
Continuing Education Units
JCC offers Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for approved professional workforce courses offered through Workforce Development. The CEU is a nationally recognized unit of measure for professional development used for career advancement. Each CEU is defined as 10 contacts hours in an organized continuing education experience.
Customized Training
Training courses and programs designed and delivered specifically to meet the unique needs of employers, offering short-term, job-specific skills development and workplace training. An employer works directly with WD to offer training tailored for their employees' specific needs. These offerings may assist in learning skills or enhance existing skills. Training delivery could be one-time or reoccurring as requested.
Professional Development
Courses that help individuals stay current in their field, adapt to industry changes, and improve job performance and career opportunities.
Vocational (Job Related)
Typically, fast-paced and intensive programs that allow individuals to pursue an industry specific set of skills leading to immediate employment or advancement in high-demand occupations.
Personal Enrichment Courses
Learning opportunities that enhance an individual's knowledge, skills, or overall well-being for personal fulfillment. Offerings include topics related to hobbies, cultural experiences, self-improvement courses, and lifelong learning pursuits that foster creativity, intellectual growth, and personal satisfaction.
The Hatch
The Hatch Fills a gap in the Olean area entrepreneurial ecosystem as a place and resource for both existing businesses and for business ideation. The Hatch supports small businesses through a supportive environment that helps new and existing businesses and entrepreneurs grow and succeed. The Hatch provides resources, guidance, amenities, and physical space on campus.
Small Business Assistance
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Jamestown Community College provides management and technical assistance to start-up and existing small businesses throughout Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany Counties. The SBDC's knowledge and experienced staff provide expert one-to-one counseling, training, and instructional programs to help small businesses succeed. Any existing small business, firm, or individual considering starting a small business may request assistance. There are no charges for direct counseling by the SBDC under this program. The SBDC can assist in business plan development, packaging loan applications, financial planning including cost analysis and revenue projections, marketing and social media assistance, export and procurement guidance, complying with permit, licensing, and other regulations, productivity enhancement, and supporting the start-up and/or expansion process for small businesses.
